Terms of Service (T.O.S.)

Section 1: General Information and Introduction

1.1: We wish Christian Social Networking (C.S.N.) to be a place of fruitful discussions, debates and fellowship. The below listed Terms of Service (TOS) has been developed over a period of many years to help encourage this. The TOS should serve as a guide for members on how to act within this community, and to inform them on various disciplinary protocols. The C.S.N. Staff Team (moderators, administrators, webmasters and forum owners) use the TOS as the basis for how they run the community. It is hoped that the TOS will ensure that members are treated fairly and given the best chance to remain as members before any action is required. Thank you for your cooperation.

1.2: While the administrators and moderators of this forum will attempt to remove or edit any generally objectionable material as quickly as possible, it is impossible to review every message. Therefore you acknowledge that all posts made to these forums express the views and opinions of the author and not the Staff Team (except for posts by these people) and hence will not be held liable.

1.3: If you feel that any action taken was unfair, it can be appealed. To appeal an action taken against you by C.S.N. staff, you are advised to start a new thread in the Forum Administration and Announcements Forum.

1.4: C.S.N. reserves the right to respond to the violation of any of the TOS with any of the responses available to our Leadership at its sole discretion. Furthermore, any action taken against offenders and their status within the community is considered private and confidential and will not be shared with the public. C.S.N. also reserves the right to remove any content which is considered to be disruptive to the Community, at the sole discretion of C.S.N. Leadership.

The Leadership of C.S.N. are authorized to use all available actions in dealing with violations to these rules. These actions include (but not limited to) editing or deleting of posts or threads; locking threads, warning or issuing infractions to members; suspending or permanently banning members’ accounts, email addresses and/or IP addresses. In addition repeated severe violations may result in a report being generated with one's Internet Service Provider.

1.5: Any staff member can give out infractions. The staff member can give infractions by a PM. Then make a post in the Staff Forums so that other staff can discuss the decision. Infractions can be overturned at the discretion of the Staff.

1.6: In general, proper warnings through PM’s or official warnings will be given whenever possible, and further or more serious violations of the TOS can result in infractions.

1.7: Obvious trolling if (posting abusive or offensive images, offensive username /signature /avatar /email address) can result in an immediate permanent emergency ban . Any staff member can recommend this.

1.8: (Privacy Policy) As a user you agree to any information you have entered being stored in a database (this may include email and IP addresses). While this information will not be disclosed to any third party without your consent the Staff Team cannot be held responsible for any hacking attempt that may lead to the data being compromised.

This forum system uses cookies to store information on your local computer. These cookies do not contain any of the information you have entered above, they serve only to improve your viewing pleasure. The email address is used only for confirming your registration details and password (and for sending new passwords should you forget your current one). It can be viewed only by Staff, and any group of users you select. The Staff Team will not disclose your contact or personal details without your prior permission, however they may be shared among the Staff Team if it is deemed relevant to the duties performed by the Staff Team (this can include PM’s).

1.9: C.S.N. users are responsible for taking the time to read the Terms of Service. Users are asked to periodically review the Terms of Service for any updates that are posted. It is your responsibility to periodically check the rules and make yourself aware of any changes. Keep note of other Announcements and Stickies which provide additional information and guidelines. Consider these also part of the Terms of Service.

1.10: It is our desire to provide a safe community that reflects Christian values and yet remains sensitive to all users. It is also understood that participating in the forums is done at one's own risk. Due to the size of C.S.N. we do not commit to providing 24-hour community monitoring for every area. Nor do we commit to verifying identities of community participants. In addition, we are not responsible for the safety of children in the C.S.N. community.
1.11: C.S.N. Leadership has the right to decide what forms of Christian "ministry" can be practiced and preached within the forums and to decide whether to deem any form of ministry unsafe.

1.12: You should always view content on the forums as a public forum. All posted conversations are logged and are the property of C.S.N. and may be used for the basis of investigative or disciplinary action at the discretion of the Administrators.

1.13: The line of authority at C.S.N. is Global Moderators, Super Moderators, Administrators, and Site Owner. Questions about finances should be directed to the Site Owner, but please note any other issues should be directed to Administrators, as the Site Owner does not engage with the running of the forums themselves.

1.14: As a member of C.S.N., you agree to abide by the Terms of Service wherever possible and you understand the disciplinary process in response to violations of the TOS.

Section 2: Specific Rules, Guidelines and Processes (the “meat” of the TOS)

2.1: This is a Christian site, therefore, any attempt to put down Christianity (or declare that it is false) and the basic tenets of our Faith will be considered a hostile act.

Active promotion of sinful behavior will not be permitted.  Do not make statements either by posts or posting URLs to other Websites which advocate activities, beliefs or teachings contrary to those of Christianity as articulated by the historic creeds, as understood by Evangelicalism, and as interpreted by the C.S.N. Leadership's sole discretion.

Any URL that is posted that leads to a page that is of anti-Christian content, or of such content that is offending or disturbing to other board users will be removed. This removal and decision for removal will be done so at the discretion of the C.S.N. Leadership.

If you are unsure about a site or content please direct your question to any of the Staff. This rule also applies to any material whether it be on the web, in print, on video, or on audio.

2.2: No active promotion of other Faiths is allowed:

You will not post any messages; links, images or photos that promote a religion or belief other than Biblical and historical Christianity (atheism is considered a "belief" for the purposes of this rule). Discussing these doctrines are fine, as long as the beliefs are not actively promoted or held in balance with orthodox Christianity.

Non-Christians will not create threads inviting members to ask them about their belief systems such as "Ask the Atheist" or "Ask the Agnostic". Such threads are seen as a means to promote other faiths.

Only scripture from accepted Christian bibles will be allowed to be posted on this board. The New World Translation and Book of Mormon are not considered Christian material on this site. Discussion about other scripture, documents, writings or material is acceptable but will not be permitted to be used as a basis of support within a debate or discussion.

Discussions of conspiracy theories often lead to slander and hostile debate. Therefore, discussion of conspiracy theories is prohibited.

2.3: No foul language, pornographic, sexually offensive, sexually explicit, or similarly related material or language including toilet humor. Including words purposely misspelled or alternate use of characters to indicate such statements. You will not create a username that violates this rule. C.S.N. will determine the acceptability of words, names or chat handles at its sole discretion. This includes handles such as "hot", "hottie", "sexy", or other words in a handle with sexual overtones. Usernames must be written with letters/numbers on a standard English keyboard as a courtesy to other members who would like to respond by name.

Cussing will not be tolerated. Use a thesaurus if you can't express yourself without swearing.

This rule also applies to a users choice of avatars, or signature file contents.

2.4: No Trolling:

You will not post anything that disrupts the peace and harmony of this forum. Don't make inflammatory remarks just to get a response. This will also include posts that put down Christianity in general or any posts considered as blasphemy by staff (this is a CHRISTIAN site).

Included is the multiple submission of posts and topics. Please do not flood the site with one copy/paste post after another.

2.5: Respect each others' opinions. Address issues, not persons or personalities. Give other members the respect you would want them to give yourself.

It is a violation to misquote or misrepresent another member.

Any personal problems with another member, then deal with it through private messages. No harassing members via PM. No public posting of PMs. Publicly announcing who is on a member's Ignore list is prohibited.

Respect where others are in their spiritual walk, do not disrupt the flow of discussion or act in a way that affects others negatively including when debating doctrinal issues, in the defense of the Christian faith, and in offering unwelcome spiritual advice.

2.6: Respect the privacy of others. Do not post or otherwise distribute private emails or private messages from other users without first obtaining their consent. Don't post or otherwise distribute phone numbers, home addresses, pictures, etc., of C.S.N. users other then yourself. Both the one asking for such information and the one supplying it will be viewed as violating this rule. A C.S.N. staff person reserves the right to share content from a PM by a member with the staff in a private staff forum if it is deemed relevant to moderating the board.

2.7: Do not "call out" other members by name who you have a disagreement with in the OP of a new thread or in a thread they are not already in. Members should not be put in the position of having to defend themselves in a discussion they have not yet chosen to participate in. The staff reserves the right to wave this term if it is deemed to be good-natured fun.

2.8: Please keep posts down to a respectable length and provide source and/or links for your info. We want to respect copyrighted material. Plus, you stand a better chance of getting your post read if it contains a link with an excerpt from source that's relative to your point.

Refrain from all caps and bold, large fonts unless it is used sparingly to emphasize a point. Hotlinking of photos is PROHIBITED! Be sure to post your topic in the appropriate forum.. If you're not sure what forum to post your message in then please post it in the General Discussion Area or ask a Staff member.

2.9: All Bible verses and passages must be referenced (NASB, NIV, etc.) unless it is public domain like the KJV, YLT, etc.

3.10: You will not use C.S.N. for illegal activities, such as drug deals or planning other illegal activities. If you are using the community in such a manner you are in the wrong place, and proper authorities will be notified if such activities are discovered by C.S.N.

2.11: No spamming. Don't flood the board with commercial posts, meaningless text, unnecessarily long messages or otherwise useless material. No solicitation or advertising. Our message boards are for discussions, not to sell goods or services.  Links are allowed in signatures, according to the TOS. No advertising for pyramid schemes or related will be allowed.

2.12: No coming into the community and typing in a bunch of non-sense words and claiming to be speaking in tongues. No coming into the community and proclaiming that God told you that everyone should give you money. You may say to someone that you felt led to share a portion of scripture in order to encourage and lift up a brother in Christ or lead someone to a saving knowledge of the Lord.

No soliciting the board for donations for any reason, even if they are worthy causes as we cannot validate their authenticity. New members may not call attention to their website or any other website for the purpose of exposure. C.S.N. is a discussion board; not a bulletin board.

2.13: Do not impersonate C.S.N. moderators, or Administrators. No creating names or making statements falsely indicating that you represent the staff at C.S.N.

2.14: Each person is permitted to have one account. Each post and IP is logged, and people using multiple accounts will be banned. Only people who have created an accurate account are permitted to participate in the community. Registering with false information is grounds for immediate blocking of access to the C.S.N. community. Misrepresentation of age, gender or identity in the forums is also prohibited.

2.15: Please do not use the forums to air your grievances against other fellow members. If you have observed a violation of the Terms of Service please let a Moderator or Administrator know. (This includes violations or allegations of inappropriate actions by the moderators and administration.) If the grievance is with a staff member please contact them privately. If you deem it necessary to go beyond that then take it to the next level of Leadership authority.
